Quote: "I don't have the yips with respect to boots on the ground – like every president says, 'There will be no boots on the ground'. I don't say it. I say 'probably don't need them', [or] 'if they were necessary'."

Background:

  • In his latest comments on the operation, Trump said the United States has not "even started hitting them hard" and that a major wave of attacks on Iran still lies ahead.
  • On 2 March, Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth said that there are currently no US troops in Iran.
  • According to the latest data, four US service members have been killed in the operation and 18 have sustained serious injuries.
  • Three F-15 fighter jets were also lost due to mistaken "friendly fire" from Kuwaiti air defences.
