Ukraine receives first tranche of US$1.5bn from new IMF programme

Ukraine has received the first tranche of US$1.5 billion from the International Monetary Fund under a new four-year programme within the Extended Fund Facility (EFF).

Details: According to Svyrydenko, the total size of the programme amounts to US$8.1 billion.
She also reiterated that since the start of the full-scale war, Ukraine has attracted US$14.9 billion in financial support from the IMF to the state budget.
Background:
- Earlier, parliamentary finance committee head Danylo Hetmantsev said there was a risk of a funding shortfall for budget expenditures as early as April.
- Svyrydenko, however, said the government does not expect "any catastrophe" in April regarding state budget financing, despite discussions about potential deficits and the fulfilment of conditions set by international partners.
