The United States has announced the closure of its embassies in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait after both came under Iranian drone attacks.

Details: The US embassy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, closed on Tuesday following strikes by two Iranian drones.

The US embassy in Kuwait has been closed "until further notice", and the US State Department has ordered non-emergency personnel to leave the country. On Monday, footage obtained by Reuters and verified by CNN showed smoke billowing near the US embassy, while a source told CNN the site was hit on both Sunday and Monday.

The US State Department has also urged American citizens to leave 14 Middle Eastern countries: Iran, Iraq, Bahrain, Egypt, Israel, Lebanon, Jordan, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Yemen and Syria.
