Russia denies sharing intelligence with Iran, Trump's envoy Witkoff says

Steve Witkoff, US President Donald Trump's Special Envoy, has said that Russia's leadership has rejected claims it is sharing intelligence with Iran during the war.

Details: Witkoff was asked whether he believes Russia is sharing intelligence with Iran about the locations of US military assets and if so why the Trump administration lifted sanctions that barred Indian refineries from buying Russian oil.
Quote: "Well, I'm not an intel officer, so I can't tell you.
I can tell you that yesterday on a call with the president [Trump] the Russians said they have not been sharing [information]. That's what they said.
So, you know, we can take them at their word… Let's hope they're not sharing."
More details: Trump spoke to Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin on Monday 9 March.
Witkoff also said he and Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner held a separate phone call on Monday morning with Yuri Ushakov, Putin's foreign policy adviser.
Ushakov "reiterated the same", Witkoff said, that Russia is not sharing intelligence with Iran.
Background:
- According to sources cited by The Washington Post, Russia is providing Iran with intelligence on the locations of US military ships and aircraft in the Middle East.
- US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said earlier he is not concerned that Iran is receiving intelligence from Russia to strike positions of US troops.
- Russian-made components have been found in a kamikaze drone that recently attacked a British airbase in Cyprus.
