Ukrainian forces destroy Russian radar worth US$50m in Luhansk Oblast

Lasar's Group, a special unit within Ukraine's National Guard, has destroyed a Russian 1K148 Yastreb-AV radar system in Luhansk Oblast, far beyond the line of contact.

Details: The operation was carried out in cooperation with the duty force control unit at the command post of the Regional Radioelectronic Intelligence Centre of Operational Command Pivnich (North). Fellow service members from the radioelectronic intelligence centre provided information about the area where the radar was deployed. Using that intelligence data, Lasar's Group established the exact location of the Russian system and sent in heavy bombers.
After the first accurate drop, the Russians attempted to save the equipment. However, Lasar's Group acted creatively and tracked the radar's movements. One of their pilots tailed the Yastreb-AV with a bomber drone, which enabled the unit to follow it along its route. Subsequent strikes completely destroyed the radar system.
The date of the successful operation has not been disclosed. Sensitive footage is usually released with a time delay.
For reference: The estimated value of the 1K148 Yastreb-AV radar system is US$50 million.
