Details: The company is part of the United Aircraft Corporation (a subsidiary of Rostec) and is responsible for producing Il-76MD-90A military transport aircraft and Il-78M-90A aerial refuelling aircraft and for servicing heavy transport aircraft such as the An-124 Ruslan.
Early reports indicate that a climate-controlled hangar and aircraft parking stands were hit. Some aircraft located on the plant's premises sustained varying degrees of damage, Ukrainian military officials said.
It is also reported that on 17 March, units of Ukraine's defence forces struck 123rd Aircraft Repair Plant facilities in the city of Staraya Russa in Novgorod Oblast, Russia.
The plant specialises in the full-cycle repair and modernisation of military transport aircraft and their components. It has its own runway, allowing heavy aircraft to land there directly.
According to the information available, a maintenance hangar for Il-76 and L-410 aircraft was hit.
The full extent of the damage is being assessed.
The General Staff emphasised that Ukraine's defence forces will continue to strike key strategic facilities involved in supporting the Russian military until the Russian Federation ceases its armed aggression against Ukraine.
