Zelenskyy outlines expectations for visit by Ukrainian delegation to US after "pause in negotiations"

Quote from Zelenskyy: "We want clear dates – at least approximate ones. We all understand that the situation in the Middle East is affecting the postponement of this date. The trilateral meeting has already been postponed once. We would like more clarity on this."
Details: The Ukrainian president also stressed the need to continue close dialogue with the American side over sanctions that the US has temporarily lifted from Russia.
"All of this poses risks for us – it means more money for Russia and an increase in its capabilities on the front line. This is dangerous, and I believe this meeting is also important from that perspective," Zelenskyy said.
He added that work would also continue on bilateral documents related to the eventual end of the war, future security guarantees and Ukraine's reconstruction.
"All this work is ongoing, and our group will be working out some of the details," Zelenskyy noted.
Earlier, Zelenskyy said that Ukraine's negotiating team was heading to the US, where a meeting is scheduled for Saturday. "There has been a pause in negotiations – it is time to end it. And we are doing everything to ensure the talks are truly substantive."
Background:
- Last week, Zelenskyy said Ukraine was ready for a new round of negotiations on ending the war, but the venue and timing had not yet been agreed due to differing positions between the US and Russia.
- He also insisted on the need for a meeting with US President Donald Trump, as there are certain issues that remain at a standstill.
- Meanwhile, media reports suggested that Trump is losing interest in negotiations on resolving Russia's war against Ukraine, as he is now focusing on Iran.
