Russian army has enough contract soldiers, no mobilisation needed, senior Russian official says

Dmitry Medvedev, former Russian president and Deputy Chairman of the Security Council, has said there is no need in Russia to announce a new wave of mobilisation because they have enough contract soldiers who have joined the Russian armed forces.

Background: Russian Defence Minister Andrei Belousov claimed in December 2025 that nearly 410,000 people had voluntarily joined the ranks of the Russian Armed Forces in 2025. Belousov said they overfulfilled the recruitment plan for 2025.
