Melania Trump helps Ukrainian children abducted by Russia return home for fourth time

The White House has announced that US First Lady Melania Trump has for the fourth time helped secure the return of abducted Ukrainian children to their families.

Details: Six Ukrainian minors currently in the Russian Federation will return to their families in Ukraine.
The White House noted that a seventh Ukrainian child will return home to family members later this month as part of this reunification.
Quote: "Reunifying children with their loved ones in this region of the world remains one of the most important global issues today. I am encouraged that both sides remain committed to ongoing cooperation, raising the safety and well-being of children above this abhorrent war."
Background:
- US First Lady Melania Trump wrote a "letter of peace" to Vladimir Putin in August 2025, calling for action regarding Ukrainian children removed by the Russian occupation administration. Donald Trump handed the letter to the Kremlin leader ahead of the Alaska summit.
- Following this, the US First Lady said she has an "open channel of communication" with Putin regarding the return of children abducted from Ukraine.
- On 4 December, the First Lady said that seven abducted Ukrainian children had been able to return home thanks to "bridge-building" by Ukraine and Russia.
- On 12 February, the White House announced that the First Lady had assisted in returning abducted Ukrainian children to their families for the third time.
