Details: The first lady said that the Russian leader had responded to a letter she had passed to him through her husband, US President Donald Trump, during his meeting with Putin in Alaska. In his reply, the Kremlin leader apparently said he is willing to work with her on the issue of Ukrainian children who have been unlawfully taken to Russia.
Melania Trump said that "much has unfolded" since then.
Her representative has been working with the Russian ruler's team "to ensure the safe reunification of children with their families between Russia and Ukraine."
Thanks to these efforts, eight Ukrainian children have been reunited with their families over the past 24 hours.
Quote: "Each child has lived in turmoil because of the war in Ukraine. Three were separated from their parents and displaced to the Russian Federation because of frontline fighting. The other five were separated from family members across borders."
Details: Melania Trump added that Russia has provided biographies and photographs of the children who have been returned to their families, as well as an overview of the "social, medical and psychological services afforded to the Ukrainian children".
The first lady also announced that another five children will soon be reunited with their families.
