Quote: "I have convened an emergency defence council for this afternoon."
Background:
- Vučić had earlier stated that if the sabotage attempt had succeeded, Hungary and northern Serbia would have been left without gas supplies.
- NATO member states are increasingly concerned about hybrid attacks targeting the Alliance's energy sector amid the Russo-Ukrainian war.
- In addition, Financial Times reported that recruiters and propagandists formerly working for the Russian private military company Wagner have become a key channel for Kremlin-backed sabotage operations in Europe.
