Ukraine's air defence downs 99 Russian drones, 16 reach targets

Russian forces have attacked Ukraine with 119 Shahed, Gerbera, Italmas and other types of drones since the evening of 8 April. Ukrainian air defences have downed 99 of the UAVs, but hits have been recorded.

Quote: "As of 08:00, [Ukrainian] air defence forces had destroyed or jammed 99 drones in the country's north, south and east. Hits by 16 UAVs had been recorded at 11 locations and the fall of downed aerial assets (debris) at 4 locations."

Details: The drones were launched from the Russian cities of Bryansk, Kursk, Oryol, Millerovo and Primorsko-Akhtarsk as well as from Hvardiiske in temporarily occupied Crimea and from temporarily occupied Donetsk.

About 70 of the UAVs were Shahed loitering munitions.

"Aircraft, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare assets, unmanned systems units and mobile fire groups from Ukraine's defence forces have been involved in repelling the attack," the Air Force reported.

As of 08:00, the attack is ongoing.
