Zelenskyy promises Druzhba oil pipeline could be operational by end of April

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has stated during a joint press conference with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz that the Druzhba oil pipeline, destroyed by a Russian missile, will be repaired by the end of April and will be able to function.

Details: He also said that not all storage tanks will be repaired, as this is a lengthy process. "But the question is different: will it be capable of functioning? Yes!" Zelenskyy noted.
Background:
- On 20 March, the European Union welcomed Ukraine's commitment to repair the Druzhba oil pipeline, destroyed by a Russian missile, within six weeks.
- This followed an EU proposal to mobilise financial resources and expert support to restore oil supplies to Hungary and Slovakia.
- Former Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán stated that Hungary would not unblock any decisions favourable to Ukraine until the Druzhba pipeline resumes transporting Russian oil.
