The Netherlands is allocating €248 million for the purchase of drones for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Source: Dutch Defence Minister Dilan Yeşilgöz-Zegerius at the 34th meeting of the Ukraine Defence Contact Group (also known as the Ramstein format) on 15 April, as reported by European Pravda citing the Dutch Defence Ministry
Details: The drones are being manufactured in the Netherlands and Ukraine.
Quote: "Drones play a crucial role on the modern battlefield. Ukrainians deploy them with incredible skill to repel the incessant Russian attacks."
More details: Yeşilgöz-Zegerius said Ukraine is very effective in repelling the Russian drone attacks, adding that fruitful cooperation with Ukraine allows the Netherlands to learn directly from that experience, offer opportunities for its business community and make close cooperation a win-win situation for both countries.
Drones are a key priority in Dutch military support for Ukraine. Among other things, the Netherlands contributed to the Drone Line initiative. As a result, Ukrainian soldiers on the front line have received hundreds of thousands of drones.
Yeşilgöz-Zegerius said it is understandable that so much attention is now focused on the situation in the Middle East. However, she said, one must not forget that the war in Ukraine has an even greater impact on security in Europe, and therefore on the Netherlands as well. That is why it is important to continue supporting Ukraine.
