An indictment has been referred to court against a 50-year-old woman – a native of Russia – who placed a GPS tracker under a serviceman's vehicle.

Details: The investigators established that in May 2025 the accused woman was on Russian territory, where she was recruited by a representative of the Russian secret service. She was subsequently offered to conduct subversive activities on Ukrainian territory.
Pursuing her criminal intent, she arrived in Odesa in June of last year and rented a flat in an agreed residential complex in the Prymorskyi district.
Acting on instructions, she was to identify in the underground car park of this residential complex a vehicle belonging to the commander of one of the defence forces units – the SSU specifies this to be a Special Operations Forces officer.
Following the criminal instructions, in August 2025 she retrieved US$10,000 from an agreed cache at a construction site in the Khadzhybeiskyi district to carry out further tasks.
That same month she purchased a Chevrolet Lacetti using part of the funds and returned the remainder to another hiding place on the territory of the residential complex. She also took a GPS tracker in order to organise surveillance.
Following her handler's instructions, she placed the device under the serviceman's vehicle, which was parked in the underground car park. The SSU states that a hitman was to use it to track down and kill the Ukrainian serviceman.
The woman was detained later in 2025 while attempting to leave the country. She will now stand trial and is charged with state treason (Article 111.2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
