Russia has claimed it has received an invitation to take part in the G20 summit in the US.

Source: RBC and other Russian media outlets, citing a statement by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Aleksandr Pankin

Details: Pankin said Russia had received an invitation, but no final decision on participation has yet been made.

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said earlier that a visit by Russian leader Vladimir Putin to the US for the G20 summit "is not on the cards".

Quote from Pankin: "We've been invited to attend at the highest level, but we'll see closer to the date. Only God knows what might happen before then."

Details: The G20 summit in the US is scheduled to take place on 14-15 December.
