- 24 April, 14:22

Details: Tusk, who has been in Cyprus since 23 April for the two-day informal EU summit, described it as the first summit with "no Russians in the room".

The only EU leader absent from the meeting is Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, who is set to leave office after 16 years in power.

Background:

  • Polish President Karol Nawrocki, who visited Orbán ahead of the election, has since denied that the trip was an expression of support.
  • It has also been reported that the EU flag will be returned to the Hungarian parliament building for the first time in more than 10 years.
