Quote: "Since the beginning of the full-scale war, Russia has carried out 155 attacks on substations that ensure the transmission of electricity from nuclear power plants [into the energy system – ed.].
Each such strike, if successful, poses a risk of emergency shutdowns, disruption to the stable operation of the system, and pressure on the safe operation of nuclear units."
Details: Shmyhal stressed that Ukraine needs modern air defence systems to protect its energy infrastructure, primarily against ballistic threats and drones.
"We insist on strengthening sanctions against Russia's energy sector – including the nuclear sector. We call for stricter restrictions on Rosatom and the suspension of Russia's membership in the IAEA Board of Governors," Shmyhal added.
