Details: It is reported that on 26 April 2026, as a result of the attack on the city of Chornomorsk, infrastructure at the Chornomorsk seaport was damaged.
During the fire, a storage tank containing 6,000 tonnes of sunflower oil was destroyed.
Emergency services from the Chornomorsk branch of the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority promptly localised the aftermath of the incident.
Barriers were installed at the site to contain the spread, and stormwater drainage was blocked to prevent the product from entering the water environment.
"State inspectors conducted an on-site inspection. No soil contamination was recorded, as the area has a concrete surface. Meanwhile, a leak of oil into the port's water area was confirmed.
An oil slick measuring approximately 400 by 200 metres formed on the water surface. Boom barriers have been deployed to contain it," the statement said.
