Fighters from the Achilles unit – Ukraine's 429th Brigade – have used a drone to strike a Russian Kasta-2E radar system in Russia's Belgorod Oblast. The system was hit about 80 km from Ukraine's state border.

Details: The Russian radar was detected and attacked near the settlement of Volotovo.

"This system essentially serves as the 'eyes' of Russian air defence, enabling early detection of aircraft, missiles and even UAVs, and thus functions as an early warning system," the brigade said.

For reference: The Kasta-2E is a Russian radar system capable of detecting and tracking up to 200 targets within a 150 km radius, including low-altitude aerial assets. According to the 429th Brigade, the minimum value of the destroyed system is estimated at US$60 million.

Background: Ukrainska Pravda reported earlier that Ukraine's National Guard had struck six Russian tanks in Belgorod Oblast, while in February, it destroyed a Russian Pantsir-S1 air defence system in the same area.
