Ukraine receives mobile F-16 simulators, rare worldwide

Ukraine has received mobile simulators for training F-16 fighter pilots to supplement its existing stationary ones.

Quote: "F-16 fighter jets are already protecting Ukrainian airspace. To increase the effectiveness of the interception of aerial assets, it is necessary to improve pilot training and reduce the time from training to combat deployment."
Details: Fedorov said Ukraine has received the simulators with the support of its partners. He noted that only a few such simulators exist worldwide due to their high cost, and some of them are already in Ukraine.
"This makes it possible to train our pilots continuously – effectively a transition to NATO standards in their training," the minister added.
Thanks to the simulators, pilots practise complex combat scenarios before take-off, in particular:
- reaction speed and decision-making
- situational awareness in dynamic combat
- execution of specific combat tasks in a simulated environment.
Fedorov also noted that the simulators were developed specifically in line with Ukraine's requirements and technical specifications and that they take into account the country's geographical features. Their key advantage is mobility. The simulators can be relocated quickly, which is critically important for pilot safety amid constant attacks.
Quote: "More training means faster preparation, preserved aircraft service life and significantly higher effectiveness in the air. Protecting the sky is our top priority… I am also grateful to the partners of the Air Force Capability Coalition, as well as the governments of the Netherlands, Czechia and Austria and the developer companies for supporting such initiatives."
Background: In February, Dutch Defence Minister Ruben Brekelmans said that the Netherlands would transfer training simulators for F-16 pilots to Ukraine.
