Russia attacks Dnipro with 5 air-launched missiles as Ukraine's Air Force details air defence response and new Russian tactics

Russian forces attacked the city of Dnipro with five guided air-launched missiles during the day on 3 May. Ukrainian air defence has downed four missiles, but one of the damaged missiles hit a student accommodation, causing casualties.

Quote: "At around 15:00, the enemy launched an attack on Dnipro with five Kh-59/69 guided air-launched missiles from Russian Su-34 and Su-57 tactical aircraft. Four missiles were shot down by units of Air Command Skhid [East], while another missile failed to reach its target as a result of active countermeasures by the defence forces. Information about it is being gathered.
However, one of the downed missiles hit a dormitory and, sadly, people were injured.
Since frontline regions are close to the line of contact, we once again urge local residents to respond to air-raid warnings, as flight times are very short and even downed missiles pose a threat."
Details: Ihnat noted that in recent days, Russian forces have been terrorising Ukraine with round-the-clock air attacks. Russia is using large numbers of UAVs, including many decoy drones.
He stressed that Russia is doing this to exhaust Ukraine's air defence, as air defence units also have to respond appropriately to decoy drones, for example by using interceptor UAVs. In real time, it is difficult to immediately determine the type of asset, specifically to distinguish a decoy drone from a real attack UAV, so the relevant countermeasures have to be deployed each time.
