Details: The drone was found in a field. Emergency services are currently working at the scene, and the area has been cordoned off.

"We received the report from an anonymous witness," said Marta Kabelis, spokesperson for the local police.

Polish news portal RMF24 reports that the drone bears Cyrillic markings. The device is fitted with a camera, and is not the type of drone that can easily be bought in a shop.

According to the outlet's unofficial information, the UAV may have flown in from Russia. Investigators have so far only confirmed that it was a foreign aircraft and did not come from Poland. Given its limited flight range, it could not have flown from Ukraine, the media added.

Background:

  • On 7 May, Latvia detected new unidentified drones in its airspace that had entered from Russian territory. It has not yet been confirmed whether they were Ukrainian or Russian aircraft.
  • The military explained that the drones were not shot down because doing so would have created excessive risks.
