Quote: "A conversation between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Vladimir Putin is not going to happen suddenly, out of nowhere, but if Russia's signals about dialogue are genuine, then Ukraine is ready as well."
Details: Asked by journalists about the possibility of such a conversation, Budanov joked that international phone lines between warring countries are disconnected and that "such calls are not made on mobile phones".
Quote: "Ukraine has repeatedly stressed and demonstrated through its actions that we support ending the war and achieving peace. This is Ukraine's official position, which is upheld by the president. We support ending the hostilities. I want to stress once again that establishing peace is not weakness, but a sign of common sense."
Details: Budanov added that the frontline situation is "stable", as is the Russian regime, "but nothing in this world lasts forever".
Background: On 10 May, after a visit to Moscow, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico said that if Zelenskyy wants to meet Putin for negotiations, he should call the Kremlin leader directly.
