Details: Dombrovskis said the G7 meeting in Paris will be used to reaffirm the need to reopen the Strait of Hormuz as soon as possible after Iran closed the waterway in response to joint US and Israeli attacks in February.

US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, for his part, said he will urge his counterparts to comply with sanctions against Tehran to prevent the funding of Iran's "war machine".

He added that last week's US trip to China, led by President Donald Trump, had been "very successful".

The G7 comprises Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom and the United States, as well as representatives of the European Union.
