Details: According to the military, a large-scale fire broke out at the facility, which has a processing capacity of up to 9 million tonnes of oil per year and is located more than 800 km from Ukraine's border.

The military noted that the Syzran refinery supplies fuel not only for civilian needs but also for Russian military aviation and military units in Russia's centre and south. Petroleum products from the facility are also exported via the Volga River and the Caspian Sea.

"Strikes on the enemy's oil refining infrastructure reduce its economic and logistical capabilities to wage war against Ukraine," the statement said.
