Attack on Russian vessels in Azov Sea: Azerbaijan reports death of five citizens

The spokesperson for Azerbaijan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has reported that five Azerbaijani citizens have been killed and three others injured as a result of a drone attack on two foreign cargo vessels in the Sea of Azov.

Details: The incident concerns an attack carried out on the night of 4-5 June on the Natra and Zirkon cargo vessels in the Taganrog Bay of the Sea of Azov, where Azerbaijani citizens were reportedly among those on board.
Hajizada stated that a total of 25 Azerbaijani citizens were aboard the two vessels.
He also noted that neither vessel belonged to Azerbaijan.
Quote from Hajizada: "According to information received from the Russian side, five Azerbaijani citizens were killed in the attack and three others were injured. The injured have been admitted to Yeysk City Hospital."
The Foreign Ministry representative added that several staff members from Azerbaijan's Embassy in Russia had travelled to the scene.
Quote from Hajizada: "The situation involving our citizens, issues related to their return home and the provision of the necessary consular assistance remain under special supervision."
Background:
- On the morning of 5 June, Russian media reported that drones had attacked a tanker and two bulk carriers in the Taganrog Bay of the Sea of Azov.
- Ukraine's Unmanned Systems Forces reported that five Russian vessels had been struck overnight on 4-5 June in the ports of temporarily occupied Mariupol and Berdiansk, as well as in nearby coastal waters.
