"I didn't guarantee no war": Trump denies pledging to keep US out of foreign wars

US President Donald Trump, who during his election campaign promised not to involve the United States in foreign wars, has denied ever making such a promise.

Details: As a presidential candidate in 2024, Trump repeatedly promised not to involve the United States in war, including on the night he won the election.

"I am not going to start a war. I am going to stop the wars," Trump said, among other things, in his victory speech following the election.

"First of all, I didn't guarantee no war. Why would I have built the strongest military in the world?" Trump said in the interview, denying that he had broken a promise made to American voters.

"So when you say I promised, I didn't promise anything. I don't like these endless wars. This is not an endless war. We've been doing this for three months," Trump added, referring to the war with Iran.

Trump launched the war with Iran without Congressional approval and is now facing growing pressure to end the costly conflict.

In recent weeks, voters have expressed dissatisfaction with rising fuel prices and the overall cost of the war.

The US House of Representatives adopted a resolution on 3 June limiting Trump's military authority with regard to Iran. Trump called the vote to limit his authority over Iran unpatriotic.
