Zelenskyy can always come to Moscow, Kremlin says after Kyiv proposes Putin meeting at G7
The Kremlin has said it did not receive an official proposal for a meeting between President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Russian leader Vladimir Putin at the G7 summit and repeated that the Ukrainian leader "can always come to Moscow".

Quote: "Of course there was no [proposal to hold a meeting at the G7 summit – ed.]. And there are no official [communication] channels between Moscow and Kyiv, as you know."
Details: Peskov reiterated that Putin had suggested that the Ukrainian president come to Moscow to see him.
Quote: "You know that Putin said everything and proposed everything to Zelenskyy. It was said and repeated several times that if Zelenskyy is ready to speak responsibly and seriously… he can always come to Moscow, where he will be received."
Background:
- On 15 June, Volodymyr Zelenskyy said he proposed a meeting with Vladimir Putin at the G7 summit in France this week for talks on ending the war, but Russia was "not ready to speak".
- On 4 June, Zelenskyy wrote an open letter to the Kremlin leader proposing a personal bilateral meeting to end the war and also said that Europe and the United States should be involved in the talks.
- Trump supported the idea of a bilateral meeting between the leaders of Ukraine and Russia.
- Putin, however, said he had seen Zelenskyy's open letter and "sees no point in holding a meeting".
- In September 2025, Vladimir Putin made it clear that he does not intend to travel anywhere to hold talks with Volodymyr Zelenskyy but is open to meeting in Moscow.
- Ukraine considers this unacceptable. In autumn 2025, the head of the President's Office said Zelenskyy is ready to meet Russian leader Vladimir Putin in any country in the world except Russia and Belarus.
- Since then, Russian officials have repeatedly claimed that they are supposedly ready for a meeting, but only in Moscow.
