NATO secretary general says no plans for NATO-Ukraine Council meeting at Ankara summit

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte has said there will be no separate NATO-Ukraine Council meeting during the summit in Türkiye.

Details: Rutte said that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will have a busy schedule of meetings during the NATO summit, which will take place in Ankara in early July, but commented specifically on the possibility of holding a separate NATO-Ukraine Council meeting.

Quote: "Many meetings, but no sit down with all the 32 leaders because we will have one session with the 32 [states]..."

Details: Meanwhile, Rutte recalled his visit to Kyiv, where a NATO-Ukraine Council meeting at ambassadorial level was held in early June with Zelenskyy's participation. He said it had been "a moving experience".

Background: At that meeting, Zelenskyy said that, thanks to a complex exchange arrangement, Ukraine has secured new Patriot systems and missiles for them earlier than 2030.
