NATO believes that Ukrainian strikes inside Russia are having an increasingly significant impact on Moscow's ability to wage war by disrupting logistics, disabling air defence systems and damaging energy infrastructure.

Details: The NATO official said Ukraine's campaign of strikes inside Russian territory is disrupting logistics, damaging energy infrastructure, disabling air defence systems and radar stations, undermining Moscow's ability to sustain offensive operations and fuelling discontent within Russian society.

"Ukraine has significantly increased its long-range drone campaign against energy infrastructure deep inside Russia," the official stressed.

The source said Ukrainian forces are capable of striking Russian logistical transport assets at distances of up to 200 km behind the front line, which could contribute to successful local Ukrainian counteroffensives.

The source emphasised that Ukraine is now capable of inflicting substantial losses on Russian logistics depots, air defence systems and energy infrastructure both in the occupied territories and in Russia's border areas.

The NATO official said that in May alone, over 130 logistics support vehicles were likely destroyed by Ukrainian drones.

Background:

  • NATO believes that Russia has not abandoned its objectives in the war against Ukraine despite having lost more than 1.4 million soldiers.
  • Earlier, Estonia's intelligence service said that battlefield developments in Russia's war against Ukraine at the beginning of June had been marked by a certain reduction in the intensity of military activity.
