Mass mobilisation drills have been held in Russia's Volgograd Oblast, with relevant officials from neighbouring regional administrations invited to attend. Russia claims such drills are held annually.

Quote: "Seventeen people are taking part in the drills. They are mobilisation staff from regional executive bodies and local governments in Astrakhan and Rostov oblasts, Kalmykia, annexed Crimea and Russian-occupied Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts."

Details: They were reportedly gathered for drills in the Russian city of Volgograd on 17 June. The next day, the exercises continued in Volzhsky and the village of Srednyaya Akhtuba.

Russia said the purpose of the drills was to explain how the procedure is carried out and share experience: "Preparation for mobilisation is a peacetime process and it is ongoing."

Russian officials claim such drills are held on schedule every year.
