Kinburn Spit is currently combat zone, Ukraine's Navy spokesman says

Ukraine's Navy has said that the Kinburn Spit is currently a combat zone and it remains strategically important for Russian forces.
Source: Dmytro Pletenchuk, spokesman for Ukraine's Navy, in a comment to Suspilne Mykolaiv, a regional branch of Ukraine's national public broadcaster in Mykolaiv Oblast
Quote: "What we are seeing now is the process of destroying Russian logistics. This is a consistent process that has been going on not for the first year and not even for one month. But as of now, the Kinburn Spit is a combat zone."
Previously: On 25 June, the Command of the Defence Forces of Ukraine's South reported that Ukrainian defenders have raised the national flag on the Kinburn Spit and that Russian troops have abandoned their positions.
However, Ukrainian defenders have not confirmed that they are present on the spit.
Background:
- Several weeks ago, the Atesh resistance movement reported that Russian forces had begun withdrawing from the Kinburn Spit, which is connected by land to the left bank of Kherson Oblast.
- According to the movement, the withdrawal followed a series of strikes by Ukraine's Armed Forces on Russian logistics routes. Atesh reported that Russian logistics in the area have effectively collapsed.
- The Russian command is withdrawing personnel from some positions and redeploying them elsewhere. Only limited forces remain on the spit, and they are no longer capable of maintaining an effective defence.
