A Russian Molniya drone without a control antenna has struck a Ukrainian facility, said Serhii "Flash" Beskrestnov, an adviser to the Ukrainian defence minister and a radio technology expert. In his assessment, this may indicate the development of autonomous UAV capabilities.

Quote: "The UAV had only a camera and a computer. This is where everything is heading. Navigation, target acquisition and the attack will become fully autonomous."

Details: Beskrestnov noted that similar technology had previously been observed only on another type of Russian UAV.

"Previously, we had seen such solutions only on the V2U UAV. I have repeatedly written that the enemy is using the V2U platform to train its neural network. Today, we found the same solution on the Molniya. This is a bad sign," the expert added.

Beskrestnov also urged people to report any discovered Russian drones or their components to him or to military commanders.

It should be noted that Defence Intelligence of Ukraine's War&Sanctions portal describes the Russian V2U as an AI-enabled loitering munition.
