The death toll from yesterday's large-scale Russian attack on the city of Kyiv has risen to 18. Rescue workers have recovered two more bodies from under the rubble of a residential building in the Darnytskyi district.

Details: Officials reported earlier that as of the evening of 6 July, 58 people had been injured in Kyiv as a result of the overnight large-scale combined Russian attack.

Background:

  • Russia launched a large-scale combined strike on Ukraine using attack drones as well as air-, land- and sea-launched missiles of various types on the night of 5-6 July. Ukrainian air defences downed 363 out of 419 aerial assets, while 29 ballistic missiles and 18 attack drones struck 34 locations.
  • The State Emergency Service also said that the most difficult situation in Kyiv Oblast remains in the city of Vyshneve. It was there that people were killed as a result of the combined attack. It was reported that 14 people had been injured, including two State Emergency Service staff members.
