Details: Carney emphasised that this concerns a new aid announcement, which will be formally made in the near future.
He told Zelenskyy that Canada is set to announce $900 million in assistance over the medium term, explaining that he meant the coming months. Carney did not specify whether the amount was in Canadian dollars, although Canadian aid is typically denominated in that currency. If so, CAD 900 million would be equivalent to about US$633 million.
He said that the package will consist of vehicles, ammunition and other equipment, as well as air defence systems. Zelenskyy, in turn, said Ukraine has received an air defence package from Canada.
Carney also stated that his country plans to continue supporting Ukraine's energy needs, recovery efforts and the strengthening of the Ukrainian economy.
He also says that pressure on Russia will only increase, that Ukraine will win and that there is still much important work to be done.
