Two killed and 29 injured in Russian missile strikes on Kharkiv overnight and this morning: high-rise hit – photos, video

Russian forces launched missile strikes on Kharkiv's Nemyshlianskyi district on the night of 7-8 July and again the following morning. A five-storey apartment block has been hit in one of the strikes. Two people have been killed and a further 33 injured in the attacks.

Details: Russian forces launched three strikes on Kharkiv's Nemyshlianskyi district on the morning of 8 July. According to the State Emergency Service, the city was attacked with missiles and drones. One of the strikes hit the roof of a five-storey residential building, completely destroying its upper floors.

Fires also broke out in a residential area and at a petrol station. Homes, office buildings and vehicles were also damaged.

Two people were killed and 29 others were affected by the attack.

Syniehubov said the two people killed were both around 60 years old. Their identities are being established.

Among those affected, 16 people sustained injuries and another seven are suffering from shock. Those injured include boys aged 17, 16 and 3, as well as a 12-year-old girl.

Five people have been taken to hospital. One man is in a serious condition and is undergoing surgery.

Russian forces had previously attacked the Nemyshlianskyi district on the night of 7-8 July. According to Syniehubov, four women aged 52, 79, 47 and 69 were injured in the strike. All were diagnosed as suffering from shock and received medical treatment.

Quote from Terekhov: "More than 20 houses have been damaged, along with the windows of a church, the street lighting network and five cars. Around 20 houses, a church and five cars have been damaged in the area."

Background: Russian forces used a ballistic missile fitted with a cluster warhead to strike Odesa on the evening of 7 July. Ten people were injured.
