The Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) has called on the Ukrainian authorities to investigate the attack on an Ukrainska Pravda film crew in Kyiv Oblast.

Background:

• On the evening of 9 July, an Ukrainska Pravda film crew was attacked by security guards at Edem Kyiv, a luxury hotel complex where Lviv businessman and former MP Ihor Kryvetskyi was celebrating.
• National Police spokeswoman Yuliia Hirdvilis said that following the UP journalists' report, Kyiv Oblast police entered data into the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations under Article 171.1 – "Obstruction of journalists' lawful professional activities".
• In a comment to Ukrainska Pravda, Kryvetskyi denied that the attack could have been carried out by his personal security detail or security guards from Edem.
