Ukraine's General Staff explains why new Long-Range Strike command is being created

Units conducting strikes on Russian territory using long-range strike assets are being united under a single command for more effective use of long-range firepower. To this end, already existing highly effective formations are being resubordinated.

Quote: "The systematic work of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in striking the enemy throughout the full depth of its operational and strategic disposition is constantly expanding and improving. That is why the decision has been made to bring the organisation of this activity to a qualitatively new level.
In brief, the diverse units conducting strikes on the territory of the aggressor state using deep strike assets are being united under a single command.
The Long-Range (Global) Strike Command will exercise command over an inter-agency grouping of the defence forces, which will operate according to a unified concept and plan."
Details: The spokesman says this will ensure more effective use of long-range firepower, improve the quality of planning and coordination, and thus enhance the effectiveness of strikes on both individual targets and operations as a whole.
Concentrating all long-range firepower capabilities within a single command system will allow a transition from individual precision strikes to the implementation of a unified long-term fire impact strategy, he explains.
This will enable the sequential and comprehensive striking of the most important elements of Russia''s military and economic potential, achieving an effect that cannot be obtained through the fragmented use of individual forces and assets.
Lykhovii added that the creation of the Command is a response to the rapid scaling of deep strike operations.
The Long-Range (Global) Strike Command is to include a defined number of long-range strike UAV units, missile units and naval unmanned systems units, as well as the necessary support and maintenance elements.
This does not involve the creation of new military units but rather the redistribution of already existing highly effective combat units of the missile forces and unmanned systems of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. They will also be reinforced by operationally subordinated strike UAV units from other components of the defence forces, the officer said.
