Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has stated that in 2026 Ukraine has already proposed ending the war to Russia dozens of times, but Moscow has refused.

Quote: "Russia has long had the opportunity to move to diplomacy and end its aggression. It is the refusal of the Russian leadership and their desire to continue fighting that is the reason the war goes on.

Just this year, we have approached Russia dozens of times with proposals to stop this war – the response has only been refusals."

Details: Zelenskyy also said that international partners are working to help organise a meeting between leaders, including the United States, Türkiye, European countries and Arab states.

"Putin has no desire to end the war," he added.
