Czech turbine engines for drones to be produced in Ukraine – photos
Ukrainian defence company Airlogix and Czech company PBS Group have agreed to localise production of PBS turbine engines in Ukraine. The engines will be produced and used on UAVs for Ukraine's defence forces.
Details: A memorandum on the production of small turbine engines was signed on 21 July at the Farnborough International Airshow. Localisation will be carried out gradually. The companies are currently finalising an official licensing agreement.
The engines will be used on drones made by Ukraine's Airlogix.
Quote from Airlogix: "The project will move in phases, starting with an assembly facility and a certified service center, followed by deeper local manufacturing. This step secures a steady supply of engines for next-generation Airlogix platforms while creating high-tech jobs locally."
More details: The PBS Group also confirmed signing of the agreement. The company explained that, in addition to joint production in Ukraine, the firms would manufacture Airlogix drones with PBS engines in Czechia "initially to serve the Ukrainian market".
Quote: "The partnership combines PBS's extensive expertise in the development and production of aerospace propulsion systems with Ukraine's rapidly developing unmanned systems industry. The exchange of know-how and transfer of manufacturing capabilities will help strengthen the defence capabilities of both countries and Europe as a whole."
Background:
- It was reported earlier that Airlogix, together with Canadian manufacturer Sentinel Research and Development, will produce and supply drones to Ukraine's defence forces under an agreement between the ministries of defence of Canada and Ukraine.
- In February, the company also announced cooperation with Germany's Auterion. In March, Airlogix representatives said that in 2026 the company plans to open production facilities in at least two countries, including Germany.
