Zelenskyy arrives in the US – video

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has arrived in the United States, where he is due to meet his US counterpart Donald Trump.

Quote: "I have already arrived in the United States. Our schedule includes meetings with President Trump, his team, and those who can support our defence. Our number-one priority is anti-ballistic defence and strategic cooperation with America. Peace needs to be brought closer."

Details: Zelenskyy also said that he will pay tribute to Senator Lindsey Graham "on behalf of all of Ukraine" and honour "his commitment to security and freedom across the transatlantic community and around the world".

Background:

• US President Donald Trump is set to host Zelenskyy and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House on Tuesday 28 July for separate meetings, with the wars in Ukraine and the Middle East expected to dominate the agenda.
• The Hill reported that all 100 US senators have been invited to meet Zelenskyy as the Senate considers a bill imposing tougher sanctions on Russia.
