Russia says explosive device detonated at Moscow restaurant

Russia's National Anti-Terrorism Committee (NAC) has said that a homemade explosive device was detonated at the Balzi Rossi restaurant in central Moscow.

Details: According to the committee, an unidentified woman attempted to enter the restaurant and is suspected of trying to bring in an explosive device.

A security guard prevented her from entering the restaurant; both were killed. One of the restaurant's patrons was also killed in the explosion.

The NAC also reported that the number of those injured had risen to 21.

Background: An explosion occurred at the Balzi Rossi restaurant in Kudrinskaya Square in central Moscow. It was previously officially reported that three people had been killed and 15 injured. According to social media reports, the venue had been closed for a private event.
