Poland is preparing 50th military aid package for Ukraine, says Ukrainian ambassador

Ukraine's Ambassador to Poland Vasyl Bodnar has said that Warsaw is currently preparing its 50th military aid package for Ukraine.

Details: Bodnar said that the supply of military aid to Ukraine continues despite recent tensions in Polish-Ukrainian relations.

Quote: "The supply of military aid to Ukraine is continuing right now. The 50th package is being prepared."

Details: The ambassador stressed that Poland is a participant in the Prioritised Ukraine Requirements List (PURL) programme, the Coalition of the Willing and the Czech-led initiative to supply ammunition to Ukraine.

Quote: "We're not talking about this right now, because we're currently absorbed in a historical discourse and the question of how to assess [Stepan] Bandera. But in reality, shells paid for by the Polish side are reaching the front line.

If equipment is being delivered that helps defend the country today, then we should only be thanking Poland, not looking for reasons to start another quarrel."

For reference: Stepan Bandera was a Ukrainian nationalist leader often criticised in Poland for alleged extremist actions during WWII.

• Following an incident in which a Russian Kh-101 missile violated Polish airspace, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced that Warsaw will soon consider transferring additional missiles for Patriot air defence systems to Ukraine.
