US Senate begins debate on "Graham bill" on sanctions against Russia, vote expected today

Details: On Thursday evening Kyiv time, the US Senate began debating the Russia sanctions bill co-authored by the late Senator Lindsey Graham, which President Donald Trump has indicated he is willing to sign.

Senators taking the floor mentioned the intensification of Russian terror against Ukrainian cities and the need to make it harder for Russia to obtain funds to continue the war.

Kateryna Lisunova, a former Voice of America correspondent who now works as a journalist with the Razom for Ukraine initiative, wrote that the final vote could take place in less than half an hour, at noon Washington time, or 19:00 Kyiv time.

She pointed out that this was the Senate's last sitting before the recess.
