Ukraine's General Staff reports strikes on two oil refineries in Russia

Ukraine's defence forces struck the Ilsky and Syzran oil refineries in Russia on the night of 7-8 August and a Russian technical surveillance post on the Syvash offshore drilling platform in the Black Sea.

Details: A fire broke out at the Ilsky oil refinery in Russia's Krasnodar Krai after it was hit.

According to the General Staff, the refinery has an annual processing capacity of around 6.6 million tonnes of crude oil, and its products are used, among other things, to supply the Russian military.

A strike and subsequent fire were also recorded at the Syzran oil refinery in Russia's Samara Oblast. The refinery has a design capacity of approximately 8.5 million tonnes of crude oil per year.

In addition, Ukraine's defence forces struck a Russian technical surveillance post on the Syvash self-elevating drilling platform in the Black Sea, which Russian forces use to deploy surveillance equipment.

The extent of the damage to the facilities is still being assessed.

Background: Users on Russian Telegram channels reported earlier that the Syzran oil refinery in Samara Oblast had come under attack on the night of 7-8 August.
