Kremlin adviser Andrei Fedorov has said that British factories producing drones and missile components could face attacks from "unknown sources" following the UK's decision to share Storm Shadow missile production technology with Ukraine.

Details: The Kremlin adviser's comments came on the same day that UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham announced in Kyiv that the UK would share Storm Shadow missile production technology with Ukraine.

Several hours later, Fedorov, a former Russian deputy foreign minister, said Putin is under pressure to take certain measures against the UK and that sooner or later, Russia's response to the UK may be not merely verbal, but perhaps visible in some form.

The Kremlin adviser added that Moscow has not 100% ruled out the possibility of paramilitary action against British arms manufacturers that produce drones for Ukraine.

"[They could be attacked] not by Russia, but from unknown sources," Fedorov said.

Background:

  • The Kremlin said earlier that the UK's decision to provide Ukraine with secret technology for producing long-range Storm Shadow/SCALP missiles was "adding fuel to the fire".
  • UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham responded to the Kremlin spokesperson's comments by saying "Who started the fire? That's the question, isn't it?"
  • Russia previously accused the UK of "deliberately opting for escalation" after media reports claimed that British-made drones had been used in strikes on targets inside Russia.
  • The Telegraph has also reported that Russia has launched a new wave of attacks on European arms factories, recruiting local gang members to carry them out and testing NATO's response.
