Russian forces attack energy infrastructure in five Ukrainian oblasts

New power outages have been recorded in five oblasts as a result of a large-scale Russian strike on the morning of 25 August.

Details: The oblasts that came under Russian fire are Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, Kherson, Chernihiv and Sumy.

"Emergency repair work is already underway wherever security conditions currently permit. Energy workers are doing everything possible to repair damaged equipment as quickly as possible," the statement reads.

Electricity consumption is rising. As of 09:30 on 25 August, consumption was 4.7% higher than on the previous working day. Energy workers are asking consumers to shift active electricity use to between 10:00 and 17:00.

Background: On 25 August, Russian forces struck the city of Konotop in Sumy Oblast, destroying agricultural and railway infrastructure facilities. The city was partially left without gas.
