Pro-Russian hackers claim responsibility for cyberattacks on Norway over support for Ukraine

Pro-Russian hacker group Server Killers has claimed responsibility for recent cyberattacks against Norway, according to a post on the group's Telegram channel.

Details: The hackers stated that they launched cyberattacks against Norway because the country signed a strategic partnership agreement with Ukraine and announced the continuation of financial support for 2027.

The TV channel suggests that by cyberattacks, the hackers are likely referring to a budget information leak that occurred on 23 August.

In addition, Norway's Digitalisation Agency has been under a major cyberattack for three days running, which has caused disruptions to dozens of government services.

Server Killers describe themselves as a pro-Russian hacker group that has been active since 2023. Earlier in August, the group claimed responsibility for several similar cyberattacks, including on a number of Romanian and Canadian websites.

The group's Telegram channel contains several references to the far more well-known hacker group NoName057(16). According to cybersecurity firm Zerofox, these two hacker groups were behind coordinated distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks on Spanish government websites last winter.
