Putin comes up with new justification for war against Ukraine: because killer whales eat polar bears

Russian leader Vladimir Putin has used the example of killer whales supposedly eating polar bears at the North Pole to justify Russia's war against Ukraine.

Details: During the meeting, Dmitry Balanchukov, a teacher from Belgorod Oblast, spoke about his experiences travelling to the North Pole.

Putin asked whether he had seen any polar bears and noted that killer whales attack them. He then connected this to a justification of Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine.

Quote: "There are killer whales living nearby. They eat these bears up like small fry. Yes, they just attack as a pack – boom! – and tear them to pieces. It's all very interesting. Yes, that's the food chain.

Children need to be told about this too, so they understand what kind of world we're living in and why we are carrying out the special military operation [as the Russians refer to their unprovoked war of aggression against Ukraine – ed.]."
